Some facts about deforestation

Deforestation is the permanent destruction of forests and timber. Deforestation is the conversion of forest area to non-forest land for industrial gain, livestock and urban use. In ancient times, most of the land was covered with forests. As the population and other demands damage the land and lead to deforestation.

The rate of destruction of forests around the world is unimaginable. Nearly half of the mature tropical lands have been destroyed. As humans are more conscious of looking for new places of residence and establishing urban areas, they have become the biggest cause of deforestation.

Examples of deforestation:

Many tropical countries are victims of deforestation. For example:

• The Philippines

• Central America

• Nigeria

• Ethiopia

• Brazil

Other than beauty, forests are responsible for keeping the world healthy and green. If we enjoy quality of life, it is only because of the forests. Forests are the gifts that contribute to improving our quality of life. Deforestation has always been a life-threatening practice. Unfortunately, all the negative effects of deforestation are caused by poor agricultural practices, and negligence on the part of the government.

Reasons for deforestation:

Deforestation occurs for many reasons. Some common causes are:

• Urban purpose and building

• Population growth

• To grow crops

• Agricultural practices

• Establishment of lands for grazing livestock

• Climate change

• Cutting wood for fuel use

• Clearing forests for mining and oil exploitation

• Construction of roads and highways

• Cutting and burning forming techniques

• Wildfire

Acid rain

• Global Warming

• Manufacture of wood products

Consequences of deforestation:

There are two types of consequences of deforestation:

• Positive results

• negative consequences

Positive results:

Deforestation made it possible to satisfy the needs of social groups. Forests are the way for residential homes, buildings and factories. Roads are built for trade and to facilitate transportation. Deforestation also allowed the production of agricultural products. The land is used for farming. This led to the production of more foods and other materials. Deforestation has economically contributed a lot and brought about positive changes in people’s lives.

negative consequences:

The negative consequences are:

Soil detection

• Floods

• drought

• Water cycle disturbance

• Loss of biodiversity

• Climate change

Desertification

• diminished beauty

• Population increase

• Irreversible environmental changes

How to prevent deforestation:

Deforestation must be controlled. There are some suggestions that should be considered.

• Reforestation / afforestation

• Wildlife sanctuaries: not only save wild animals, but also preserve forests and trees.

• Commercial forestry

• Water management: Improper water management leads to deforestation. This must be controlled.

• Use recycled items

Farming practices

• Be an Advocate: Learn how someone can spread the word.

• Support the Conservative Organization: Support the organization through donations, money, time, etc.
